Orava Folk Music and Dance

In Slovakia, tradition is kept alive in the form of music and dance.

Folk music is especially popular in the Orava region, where traditional folkgroups regularly play concerts throughout the spring and summer in Dolny Kubin and the surrounding villages.

When the folkgroups perform a dance typical for the Orava region, they of course wear the traditional Orava costumes.

The folk costumes, including all the accessories, such as hats, shoes, boots and ribbons, are made in the same way as the original national costumes were made centuries before. Outfits are also worn at different times of the year, such as Fasang and Christmas fancy dress.
