The History of the Schools in Dolny Kubin

By 1918, Dolny Kubin had the following schools:

A state primary school, a Roman Catholic primary school, an Evangelical primary school, a public school, a business school and a Grammar school.

The school system then changed with the coming of Communism. From the year 1948, instead of the public school there was only a High school and the church schools were all abolished.

Today, the old Grammar school, named after the great Slovak poet P.O. Hviezdoslav, is still here, and now there are also a number of new primary schools, Kindergartens, specialist high schools, apprentice schools, and an art school.
