Late 19th Century and Early C20th
During the second half of the 19th Century, Dolny Kubin was still
quite a small town. The main reason for this was the frequent migration
and emigrations of the people from the Orava region in order to
find a job.
At this time, most of the population in Dolny Kubin were either
of Hungarian, German or Slovak nationality. Also a substantial part
of the population were Jews who made up a large percentage of the
German nationality.
Gradually the industry improved in the region, and in the town
there was a brewery and the production of scnapps. Other important
enterprises included the printing plant, the bookbinding plant and
the stationers. Also the Turkish baths offered their service to
people.
Also, the financial center in Dolny Kubin started to awake in the
second half of the 19th century, when the financial institute known
as "Saving and subsidiary union" was founded. Later the
branches of the Tatra Bank, Vzajomna pomocnica and others were also
placed here.
