Dolny Kubin during the 18th Century
Even though during this period Dolny Kubin was officially a town,
it hardly resembled one in terms of infastructure. The houses were
covered with shingles, some still had straw roofs, they did not
have chimneys and inside the houses there were open fireplaces,
which were frequently the cause of fires.
The order, given during the reign of Jozef II, to restrict the
building of houses from wood, contributed to preventing these fires,
and also had a great influence on the future look of the town.
This century also saw the construction of the town hall.
