Ladislav Nadasi Jege was born in Dolny Kubin, the son of the lawyer,
Anton Nadasi (real surname Odrobinak), who was also a Mayor of Dolny
Kubin for a long period.
Jege studied Grammar school in Kezmarok, Ruzomberok and Levoca,
and after his final exams in 1883, went away to Prague to study
medicine. As a general practitioner he settled in Dolny Kubin where
he also spent most of his live. In 1891, Jege became a regional
doctor and a 1920 candidate for the Slovak National Party. Between
1918-22 he was the assistant editor and later an editor of the newspaper
Our Orava, and from 1923-25 the editor of the Orava newspaper. At
the end of 1926, Jege became a medical consultant, finished with
his role as a regional doctor, and started to concentrate more on
his writing.
Under the name of Dr. Jan Grob he wrote a series of humorist sketches
for the National Newspaper and the newspaper "Slovenske pohlady",
such as "Joke", "Science", "Cure",
"Mistake", the novel "Advantages of the social life"
and others.
The main importance of Jege's work is that it helps to uncover
the hidden sides of the society in the first half of the 20th century.
