Orava Gallery
Formerly the County House, the two-storeyed Baroque-style building
that dominates the town square is today the home of the Orava art
gallery.
|
 |
The exhibitions on display here include
folk, modern and classic art, painted by people from the Orava
region.
The Orava Gallery was founded in 1965 as a state charity
organisation, and organizes a variety of art expositions.
|
|
| In 1995, after a major
reconstruction of the building, the gallery opened to the public
their current permanent exhibitions. They are as follows:
Old Art C15th - C19th, Icons, C20th Slovak Art, Traditional
Folk Art and the "Maria Medvecka - Painter of Orava"
Exhibition (this actually won the Martin Benka prize for the
presentation and promotion of Slovak Art, in 1996).
