Social life in Dolny Kubin
The beginnings of the social life in this town go back to the second
half of the C19th.
In 1851the jewish population founded in Dolny Kubin a Union for
supporting recruits, which was supposed protect the rights of jewish
recruits by the military draws.
Four years later also the Jewish funeral union was founded, which
gave the basis for the Association of Chevra Kadischa.
The richer jewish population also founded in 1872 Jewish Union
supporting the poor people. From the initiation of jewish population
the Library Union was founded, which took care of subscriptions
of magazines, lending of books and selfeducation of members.
In Dolny Kubin there were also other jewish unions such as the
Union of Dolny Kubin Jewish women, the Union Talmud Tora (Jewish
Holy Union). Some of the local officials were in the second half
of the C19th members of the Association called Kasina (had meetings
in one of the private houses).
