EconomyThe district of Dolny Kubin is well known for its metallurgical, metal, engineering, electrotechnical and wood industries. The building trade is also important in Dolny Kubin. Agriculture forms only a small part of the economy of the region. It concentrates mainly on cattle, pig and sheep breeding, as well as the cultivation of potatoes, fodder, forage and cereals. The change of ownership, a new economic structure and an orientation towards new markets has caused a decline in production in recent years, which has played its part in the high unemployment rate in the region. In the last few years, Dolny Kubin has also recorded a slight development in the area of tourism.
